Promote the Vote Submits Summary Detailing the Dangerous Provisions of Audit Michigan Initiative
Summary filed with Board of State Canvassers as ballot process moves forward
MICHIGAN – Late last year, a group called Audit Michigan filed proposed petition language that would force Michigan to conduct a costly and dangerous review of the 2020 election. Yesterday, Promote the Vote submitted an alternative summary, along with a legal memorandum, to the Board of State Canvassers which details the dangerous provisions in this proposal. Sharon Dolente, senior advisor for Promote the Vote issued the following statement:
“It is critical that voters understand exactly what they are signing when they sign a petition. The Audit Michigan proposal would make Michigan’s elections less secure by allowing private contractors funded by dark money to take possession of all election materials, including the secret ballot of every voter in the state. These sham election reviews are a waste of both time and resources and feed into misinformation about our elections.”
