Melanie Macey

Policy Counsel

Melanie Macey is Promote the Vote’s Policy Counsel. Following the successful passage of last year’s voting rights proposal (Prop 2), Melanie has been working with election law experts, legislators, administrators, and voting rights advocates to draft language and advocate for swift passage of implementing legislation. She also managed the election challenger piece of PTV’s statewide election protection program for the 2022 election after a decade of volunteering as an election challenger. Before joining Promote the Vote, Melanie worked in a number of public service positions, including as a legal aid attorney and as a counselor for Michigan Law students pursuing public interest and government careers. She has a J.D. and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Michigan, and a B.A. from Haverford College, where she wrote her thesis on the 2000 election in Florida. She lives in Royal Oak with her husband and their three adorable and brave children, who are a daily reminder of the importance of preserving our democracy.
